The 48V Heavy Duty Lithium-ion Battery Charging and Storage cabinet for inside or outside use has 20 power sockets for you to plug in 20 lithium-ion battery chargers – that’s four x 48 volt batteries per compartment (20 in total). Â Each compartment is insulated completely all around like in a kiln, with 1430 degree C continuous rated HotWall insulation. Â We are aware that exploding batteries light up neighbouring batteries and we don’t want a whole cabinet full of exploding batteries having a thermal runaway event at the same time.
When a battery has a thermal runaway event, a trail of Hydrogen Gas is emitted firstly, which is immediately followed by the Hydrogen Fluoride smoke and suddenly within 1-3 seconds the battery will explode. Â The flames follow the trail of gas and smoke as seen in our previous video. Â The explosion can be so quick and so violent that the only way to handle the effects is to contain it and let the battery spend its energy.
The TSCW ventilation system we have developed is paramount to allow the gases to escape from the exploding battery in each compartment – without this ventilation system pressure may build up from the hydrogen gases and fluoride fumes which could actually just blow the doors open or worse. Â
A lithium-ion battery explosion can reach temperatures of over 1000 degrees C. Â Without the HotWall insulation the temperature inside each compartment would quickly permeate through to the outside wall of the cabinet – creating another possible fire disaster within the factory .
