The 12 Station Lithium-ion Battery Charging and Storage cabinet has 12 Â power sockets for you to plug in 12 lithium-ion battery chargers , that’s four batteries per compartment. Â Each compartment is insulated completely, all around like in a kiln, with 1260 degree C continuous rated HotWall insulation. Â We are aware that exploding batteries light up neighbouring batteries and we don’t want the whole cabinet full of exploding batteries having a thermal runaway event.
An individually switched cooling fan assists each compartment to keep cool, expelling cool air over the batteries and chargers out through the flame arrestor to the start of the exhaust vent . Â Without this exhaust vent pressure built up from the hydrogen gases and fluoride could actually just try to blow the doors open.
When a battery has a thermal runaway event, a trail of Hydrogen gas is emitted firstly, which is immediately followed by the Hydrogen Fluoride smoke and suddenly within 1-3 seconds the battery will explode. Â The flames follow the trail of gas and smoke as seen in our previous video. Â The explosion can be so quick and so violent that the only way to handle the effects is to contain it and let the battery spend its energy .
A lithium-ion battery explosion can reach temperatures of over 1000 degrees C. Â Without the HotWall insulation the temperature inside each compartment would quickly permeate through to the outside wall of the cabinet – creating another possible fire disaster within the factory .
Lithium-ion battery management is a serious business. Â You should never choose a flammable goods cabinet to house your lithium-ion batteries – too many risks! Â If it was that simple we would have lead you to our Flammable Goods Cabinet range.
